WASHINGTON, DC – Benjamin Zenker, a current senior at American University majoring in public communication with a minor in education studies will be resigning as Chairman of the Blue Crew Leadership Council (BCLC) while appointing Emily Wolfe, a freshman in the School of International Service as his successor effective immediately on Friday, October 30, 2015.  Zenker has been a part of BCLC since its creation in the Fall 2012 semester, and worked his way up from being a Game Day Intern to the Chairman of BCLC for the past 3 years and the AU Athletics Assistant for Marketing and Fan Experience.  The decision to pass the torch over to Emily Wolfe was clear, but the point of when the transition would occur was difficult for Zenker.  However, the realizations of senior year combining with the obligations of AU Athletics and BCLC within the past three weeks pushed Zenker to make the transition at this current time.

He felt that Wolfe, who previously held the position of Residence Hall Marketing and Promotions Assistant for BCLC is more than capable to be the next Chairperson.  Wolfe’s experiences teaching and serving abroad highlight her tolerance, discipline, and vast understanding.  This coupled with her leadership skills and enthusiastic, passionate, and highly driven personality makes her the ideal individual.

This resignation does not mean Zenker will be leaving AU Athletics, but making a clearer separation of BCLC duties from work as the Assistant for Marketing and Fan Experience.  From this point forward he will be advising BCLC, while continuing AU Athletics administrative and external community efforts to support student-athletes and foster a larger, more spirited community not just on campus, but in the local area.

AU Blue Crew Leadership Council coordinates directly with AU Athletics and the campus community to assure support for AU student-athletes, growth of school spirit, and fostering community through sports.
